My furniture is made in a traditional way by hand and whenever possible with local timber. I start by splitting a log, shaping it with an axe and then onto a shavehorse to finish with a drawknife. I make the most of the piece of wood and allow the twists, knots, bark and any other features to dictate how I finish the shape and design. I combine marquetry and inlay techniques that I have learnt when making musical instruments along with design and decorating ideas from my fine art degree to create pieces of work that are bespoke and unique.
My furniture is mainly by commission and I can design a piece from scratch to your specifications or you can choose a style from my portfolio and adapt it.
