Willow Cuttings

Coppicing

Coppicing is the act of cutting a tree back down to the ground with the aim of letting it grow back into multiple stems, this lets a stream of new light hit the woodland floor allowing dormant seeds to revive and grow and reintroduce a whole host of flora and fauna to re-emerge.

My willow patch is coppiced every Winter when the plants are in dormancy giving me willow rods for fencing, fuel, crafts, living willow structures and willow cuttings.

The cuttings come in sets of 10 and are around 12 inches long and i will be selling these each winter  pre orders will be available in Nov/ Dec 2026 and postage will be in January  2027

They will be available directly from me only in January 2026

PLANTING & COPPICING

The best time to plant your willow is in the dormant season between December and mid March, making sure the cutting is the right way up, push the cutting about 3/4 into the ground, the ground will need some kind of mulch or matting as willow does not like a lot of competition from the weeds as it is starting to get established. Depending on the variety and what you are growing them for you should plant between 1 and 3 feet apart. Many willow cuttings can also be grown into stunning trees.

Every set of cuttings will come with planting and care instructions.

Happy planting
