COVID – 19
Courses are booking again!!!
I am booking sessions privately for a minimum of two to four people in bark work, spoon carving and sharpening, in a woodland near Wirksworth, Matlock
£280 for two, £350 for 3 or £450 for 4 people
All courses will be running outside at a beautiful woodland venue and all the relevant precautions will be taken.
We have new smaller classes of six for courses this year, plenty of space under our new outdoor shelter, cleaning of tools and toilets are in place so we are good to go ;0)
Rest assured if you have a booking on a course that was postponed, you will be moved onto a new suitable date. Please do still book onto my courses with the knowledge that if it has to be postponed you will not lose your money. Many independent craftspeople, artists and musicians have lost all of their income for the next few months so please support them by buying their work, booking onto courses and spending your money locally. See you on the other side, take care. Nadine

I started crafting initially with paint, photography and film, but had always had a passion for old tools, wood and metal. I initially started out dabbling in instrument making and cabinet making which taught me many skills, but it was only when I started to learn about green woodwork and the old, traditional techniques that have been passed down for generations, that my passion really started to grow.
The pull towards working outdoors, with the natural environment and with hand tools not machines grew stronger over the years and I now work solely outdoors throughout the year, my work changing to compliment the seasons.
Everything I make has a story to tell, using material that is sustainable and local. I can tell you exactly where the tree has come from that your bowl, spoon or chair has been created from. I also love creating functional but beautiful items, that will also be used every day. It is hugely satisfying to eat from a wooden bowl and spoon that you have made yourself whilst sat on a chair that you have made entirely by hand.
I work from my workshop or in the woods and anywhere else where I can carry a log and my tools!
I undertake coppice, hedgelaying and conservation work in the winter and am the rep for the Local NCFED group. This is how I sustainably source my materials and It gives me a greater respect and understanding of the environment and the materials that I am using.
I have a passion for passing on these skills and i run craft courses, including spoon / bowl carving and barkcraft and also work freelance teaching greenwoodwork to groups of children and adults. I also undertake demonstrations and run workshops at events and festivals all over the country.
I am a qualified teacher, level three forest school leader and hold full public liability insurance, dbs and first aid. I also hold a qualification in Herbalism
I can be booked for demonstrations, craft workshops and education sessions.
