Sharpening for Greenwoodwork Tools at Lupine Woods – 6th Sept 2020
€85.00
Sharpening is the most important skill to learn as a greenwood carver, blunt tools are dangerous and also no fun to carve with!!
Good tools will last a lifetime if looked after and sharpened regularly.
Sharpening can seem daunting at first, there are so many different sharpening stones and techniques that i know i found it confusing at first, i remember also being scared to ruin my tools, so didnt sharpen as much as i should have and this left to frustration when carving and poor tools ;0(
Now it is the first thing that i do before carving and the difference that a couple of minutes can make to my carving experience still astounds me.
Sharpening is not complicated and i will guide you through simple ways of maintaining your tools with inexpensive equipment and using tricks to help you along the way.
On this course we will cover sharpening and stropping basics on axes, drawknives, carving knives including hook knives, gouges and chisels.
