Intro to Spoon Carving –
3rd April 2021
Spoon carving is a fantastic introduction into green woodwork and one that can provide a lifetimes enjoyment. It is a fantastic skill to learn as it can be done anywhere, with few tools and very little space. On this course we will learn to carve a cooking spoon that you can use in your home using three tools; an axe, carving knife and a spoon knife.
As well as carving I will show you how to sharpen and look after your tools and also how I finish and decorate them. Although all tools and wood are provided, you are welcome to bring your own if you have them.
Longway bank woodland site is a ten minute walk from the car park up a steepish woodland path and the entire course is taught outside. It has a timber framed compost loo and is set in a beautiful place. Please bring suitable outdoor warm clothing and suitable shoes for walking and axing
Covid 19 – For the time being i am asking people to bring their own flasks and packed lunch for the break. There is plenty of outdoor space to work and each participant will have their own tools. Where tools have to be passed we have plenty of anti viral wipes and sanitiser on hand.
