Learn the amazing versatility of bark and learn to process, weave and create your own crafts.
Bark is a fantastic material that is can be harvested from the tree in the spring and summer time and can be processed and made into beautiful, functional objects.
On this course we will look at a selection of different barks from my collection and I will show you items that can be made from them.
Weave yourself a beautiful basket that you could use for foraging, as a plant pot or use for storage from locally harvested willow bark.
During day you’ll learn how to harvest, process and weave yourself a beautiful and practical basket from sustainably coppiced willow bark and split Hazel as a rim.
Bark is a fantastic material, harvested in the spring and summer time when the sap is running it can be processed and made into many beautiful, functional objects.This course is taught by in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere by Nadine Grundy who has over 15 years experience teaching art, crafts and woodwork.
Longway bank woodland site is a ten minute walk from the car park up a steepish woodland path and the entire course is taught outside. It has a timber framed compost loo and is set in a beautiful place. Please bring suitable outdoor warm clothing and suitable shoes for walking and axing.
There are plenty places to stay overnight in the local area.
Covid 19 – Hot drinks will be provided but bring a packed lunch for the break. There is plenty of outdoor space to work and each participant will have their own tools. Where tools have to be passed we have plenty of anti viral wipes and sanitiser on hand.
If the course has to be cancelled because of Covid lockdown – then either a full refund will be given or a transferred date
